Peterson Scenic Photography
"Capturing A Moment In Time To
Enjoy Forever"
About Us
Lou & Elke Peterson are a husband & wife
photography team residing in a rural area East of Tacoma, WA. Their love
for the outdoors and the glorious scenery is the inspiration for their
photography.
 |
Lou developed an interest in photography while in high school.
Through self-study and practice he learned technique and style. Later he became
a high school yearbook photographer.
After high school he entered the US Navy as Photographer's Mate
and served on various photographic assignments, including aerial photography.
As he gained experience and technical knowledge his interest
became a passion.
After many decades he still maintains his passion and enjoys the
excitement of
"the right scene with the right lighting".
|
Elke has enjoyed photography since she came
from Germany to the United States as a teenager. The variety and beauty of
this new country were awe inspiring to her, and she felt the need to
capture all these wonders on film.
With her husband as a teacher and her eye
for colors and composition , photography turned out to be something she
truly enjoyed.
This love turned into a passion after
a critical illness and a life-saving organ transplant in 1988. It gave her the
motivation and the will to recover, so she would be able to once again
enjoy their hiking and photography.
With this renewed lease on life Elke
decided she was going to fulfill her dream and turn her hobby of
photography into a profession, and in 1990 she and Lou formed "Peterson
Scenic Photography".
Elke states:
"To me, each colorful sunrise and sunset, each
spring day with new life emerging, each summer day full of flowers
blooming, each glorious autumn scene, and each fresh, pristine snow
fall are moments to be cherished and treasured forever, and never to
be taken for granted."
Over the years Lou & Elke have become an
established presence at many Art Shows in Western Washington, have won
numerous awards for their images, and their pictures grace the
walls of a wide variety of businesses as well as individuals.

Technical info:
The vast majority of our pictures were taken with a medium
format Pentax 6x7 and a variety of matching lenses, from wide angle to
telephoto. Occasionally we also use a Canon EOS series 35mm camera
with matching lenses, and just recently entered the digital age with
a high resolution Canon DSLR.
With our film cameras we prefer a slow
speed professional film and have used Kodak Ektar 25 until it's
discontinuance. We now use Konica 50 (120mm) and Kodak Professional UC 100
(120mm).
And, like Lou always likes to point out to
people: "Use a good, sturdy tripod!!"
We hope you've enjoyed looking at our
"virtual" gallery, and should you be in an area where we are participants
in a show, please stop by and say "hello".
